About us – Self Drive Africa
Having been born and bred in laid back and beautiful nature based Zambia, My husband and I have always been avid bush ‘fans’.
When we had our children, we agreed that, regardless of their age, we would try and expose them to the true nature and beauty of the African wild …who knows how long animals in their natural habitat will be allowed to roam freely and why not make the most of it while it all still exists?
In 2008 we moved to South Africa and have been based in Johannesburg ever since . In 2010, after numerous trips to the bush in set accommodation and luxury, we chose to indulge ourselves in buying our own caravan and have never looked back.
We make a concerted effort to visit the spectacular Kruger National Park at least 3 times a year, if not more. We also make a point of doing the “real” thing (camping with no electricity or running water…apart from the river running by us) once a year either to Mana Pools in Zimbabwe or Chobe/Moremi in Botswana. This year we are fortunate enough to have the great pleasure of exploring Namibia’s Etosha National Park.
We will continue to explore this beautiful and natural continent we know as Africa and hope you can share in the joy of it with us.
